Key Achievements

2016 – Appointed to Innovation and Research Committee of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) in the UK.

2014 – Appointed UNESCO Club representative for Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

2013  Appointed to the post of Director of the Office of UTM International, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in Kuala Lumpur.

2012 –  Invited by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to be a researcher on a national research project entitled ” A Critical Assessment of the Impact of PSPTN Phase 1 on Malaysian Higher Education Stakeholders”. (http://www.mohe.gov.my/psptn/)

2011 – Organised the first International Construction Business Management Symposium, held at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

2011 – Appointed international Construction Ambassador by the Chartered Institute of Building.

2011 – Appointed Chairman of the Management in Construction Research Association (MiCRA), the first foreigner to hold the post.

2010 – Co-founded the only journal in quantity surveying (Khairuddin A R & Preece, C N (2011) Journal of Quantity Surveying & Construction Business, Volume 1 Issue 2, July 2011 (ISBN 2229-8339, Khairuddin A R & Preece, C N (2010) Journal of Quantity Surveying & Construction Business, Volume 1 Issue 1, July 2010 ISSN 1985-8817)

2009 – Co-organised the first Construction in the Muslim World Conference at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

2008 – A contributor to the first book on corporate social responsibility in the construction industry (Moodley K & Preece C (2008) Community interaction in the Construction Industry in Murray M and Dainty A (ed) Corporate Social Responsibility in the Construction Industry, pp.98-118, Taylor Francis.)

2007 – Co-wrote one of the first books on engineering, business and professional ethics (Robinson, S.,Dixon, J.R.; Preece, C.N.; Moodley, K. (2007) Engineering Business and Professional Ethics. Butterworth-Heinemann. ISBN 978-0-7506-6741-8)

2006 – Served on the Engineering Professors Council and Royal Academy of   Engineering, Teaching Ethics in Engineering Group

2004 – Organised the first National Construction Public Relations Conference in Leeds, UK.

2000 – Organiser and  Chair of the first National Conference and Exhibition organised by the Chartered Institute of Building in the UK

1999 – Founded and managed the first CIB Task Group on International Construction  Marketing (CIB W065 Task (1) – 1999-2002) forerunner to the CIB Task Group 082  on Marketing in Construction).

1998 – Organised the first International Construction Marketing Conference  in Leeds, UK in August 1998.

1998 – Lead author of the first book on corporate communications  in the construction industry in (Preece C N, Moodley K & Smith A M (1998) Corporate Communications in Construction: Public Relations Strategies for Successful Business and Projects Blackwell Science. ISBN 0-632-04906-5, (1998)
